Motion Artifact Removal Techniques for Wearable EEG and PPG Sensor Systems

نویسندگان

چکیده

Removal of motion artifacts is a critical challenge, especially in wearable electroencephalography (EEG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) devices that are exposed to daily movements. Recently, the significance artifact removal techniques has increased since EEG-based brain–computer interfaces (BCI) healthcare usage PPG were spotlighted. In this article, development on EEG sensor systems introduced. Then, understanding its reduction methods implemented by hardware and/or software fashions reviewed. Various electrode types, analog readout circuits, signal processing studied for removal. addition, recent in-ear with also Furthermore, compensating independent/dependent presented PPG.

Artifact Removal from EEG Signals

Electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings are often contaminated with several artifacts.Powerline interference and baseline noise is always present in EEG response of every patient. A number of strategies are available to deal with noise effectively both at the time of EEG recording as well as during preprocessing of recorded data. The aim of the paper is to give an overview of the most common s...

Co-recording of EEG and fMRI data: EEG artifact removal

The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a standard technique to record and study the brain activity with a high temporal resolution (ms). BOLD fMRI (Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a non-invasive imaging method that allows the localization of activated brain regions with a high spatial resolution (mm). The co-recording of these two complementary modalities ...

Artifact Removal from Eeg Recordings – an Overview

Electrical impulses generated by nerve firings in the brain diffuse through the head and can be measured by electrodes placed on the scalp, is known as electroencephalogram (EEG) and was first measured in humans by Hans Berger in 1929. The EEG gives a coarse view of neural activity and has been used to noninvasively study cognitive processes and the physiology of the brain. The analysis of EEG ...

EEG Artifact Removal System for Depression Using a Hybrid Denoising Approach

Introduction: Clinicians use several computer-aided diagnostic systems for depression to authorize their diagnosis. An electroencephalogram  (EEG) may be used as an objective tool for early diagnosis of depression and controlling it from reaching a severe and permanent state. However, artifact contamination reduces the accuracy in EEG signal processing systems. Methods: This work proposes a no...

Gaussian Elimination-Based Novel Canonical Correlation Analysis Method for EEG Motion Artifact Removal

The motion generated at the capturing time of electro-encephalography (EEG) signal leads to the artifacts, which may reduce the quality of obtained information. Existing artifact removal methods use canonical correlation analysis (CCA) for removing artifacts along with ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and wavelet transform (WT). A new approach is proposed to further analyse and impr...
